According to the Small Business Administration's, Office of Women's Business Ownership there are more than 10.6 million women-owned businesses in America contributing nearly $2.5 trillion to our America economy. But what about the moms that are running a business? The Entrepreneurial Mother or "Mom-Es" as I like to refer to them should be congratulated for the amazing accomplishment of simultaneously raising a family and a business.

Assistance available for working moms (Jul 30, 2007 at 10:46 AM) - Having a mom is one thing every single human has in common. Having a working mom however, is more than ever becoming common. According to Moms In Business Network (MIBN), women constitute nearly one-half of the workforce and women are starting business two times faster than men. Additionally, the group finds that 72 percent of mothers work with nearly 60 percent returning to work before the baby reaches age one.

Henderson Business Wins National Grant (Jul 30, 2007 at 10:09 AM) - A local Henderson businesswoman and mother, Ronna Timpa, was honored earlier this month at the first annual Moms in Business Network (MIBN) Create Your Dream Awards Gala. As the recipient of the Business Expansion Grant, Timpa will receive a $1000 cash award to be used to expand her company, Workplace ESL Solutions, in addition to receiving other benefits including a Corporate Membership in MIBN. The total value of the award is $1,500.

Employers grant flexible incentives for new dads (Jun 4, 2007 at 10:07 AM) - It was 2002 and Brent McIlbain was working for KPMG International, a top 4 accounting firm, in Dallas, Texas when his first child, Abigail, was born. Faced with the challenge of juggling time with his daughter and work, he says he decided to take advantage of the companys paid paternity leave benefit. The program, part of the KPMGs work-life initiative, allowed new fathers two weeks of flexible paid leave time...

Moms in Business fills a niche for working women (Jun 4, 2007 at 10:03 AM) - It's been one year since the Henderson-based Moms in Business Network was launched. What started with five members has grown to more than 40,000. "It's been a good year, although tough at times," said founder Gina Robison-Billups. "We did not plan to go national until 2004, but we have members in 10 states now."

Wacker founded Compulink Management Center, Inc., in 1974 to develop custom software solutions. ESL expert awarded with grant (Jun 4, 2007 at 9:47 AM) - Ronna Timpa's company, Workplace ESL Solutions, publishes textbooks and hosts language courses to improve employees English skills so as to better communicate with co-workers, supervisors and customers. And thanks to a recent award from the Moms in Business Network, Timpa can now assess students' progress before they leave her classes, a service unique to most language companies.
